ABOUT US

History:

Nu Alpha Phi Fraternity, Inc. was founded on March 18th, 1994. Albert Yip, Bill Tong, Henry Ngan, Lok Man Kwon, Alan Sun, Eric Peng, Tai Nham, and Sean Chao assumed the pledge names: He-man, Mickey, Cambodian, Masterlock, Rex, One Way, T-Bone, and Kid respectively. This marked the genesis of our brotherhood as the Alpha Alpha Class at SUNY Albany was established.

Nu Alpha Phi New York City Beta Chapter was founded by four college students, strong in both mind and body, at Saint John's University. In 1996 Danny Chang (DT), Ken Inoue (Shy), William D. Wong (Polo), Chris Chang (Beyond) took a vow to carry on the Seven Principles of Nu Alpha Phi. Together they swore to take the responsibilities to educate themselves and each pledged to follow our seven principles of Discipline, Leadership, Brotherhood, Professionalism, Unity, Pride, and Service to become the best they can be.

From Saint John’s University Beta Chapter evolved to become Nu Alpha Phi CUNY Beta Chapter with the crossings of new brothers at Baruch College. Today we are firmly planted into the CUNY community and as an organization are expanding greatly with Chapters in Albany, CUNY, Stony Brook, Buffalo, NYU, Binghampton, Syracuse University and a colony in Stevens Institute of Technology. To this very day we continually follow the examples set by our founders and pledge every pledge class to uphold our Seven Principles and bring our Brotherhood to a new generation of college students.

As CUNY Beta Chapter of Nu Alpha Phi we actively seek to bring Asian culture to NYC by committing our time to Asian cultural shows such as the annual Baruch Asian Student Association Fashion show. We are politically active and always push for Asian awareness and urge the Asian community to be aware of what is happening to the community around them and to vote as we are also advocates of APIA Vote. We also lend a hand to the local community by volunteering in various soup kitchens, food and clothing drives and we also participate in community services of a larger scale such as the March of Dimes and AIDS Walk.
